Meet Jose
Jose Raymond’s entry into stand-up comedy was as unexpected as it was serendipitous. While working as a chef, he was drawn to a comedy contest at a neighborhood bar, enticed by the allure of a modest $50 prize. His subsequent victories in multiple contests unveiled his inherent aptitude for comedy, leading him to embrace stand-up as his professional calling.
Jose’s love for comedy is rooted in his childhood. He grew up watching sitcoms and stand-up shows featuring Bernie Mac, George Lopez, and Dave Chappelle. These icons, along with others, shaped his comedic taste and aspirations. Jose's approach to comedy is democratic; he values humor for its quality, regardless of its source.
Before performances, his routine is both practical and personal. He reviews his set meticulously and engages in shadow boxing, a nod to his past as a fighter.
His family, residing in the vibrant cultural melting pot of Hawaii, includes a blend of combat sports athletes and culinary experts. His wife, an Armenian chef and businesswoman, alongside their three children, form the heart of his world.
Central to Jose’s philosophy is a tenacious spirit, shaped by his family’s legacy of overcoming adversity. He believes in the power of perseverance and the importance of resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
For Jose, comedy is not merely a profession; it’s a reflection of his life’s journey, imbued with
the passion and determination that define him.

When life gets hard, just roll with the joints.
